The Church of Our Martyred Lady

In our time of need, we think on Our Martyred Lady: the one who sacrificed her life in order to save a child amidst the burning fields of battle. Her death inspired all of those about her to lay down their arms. The battlefield where Iutana de Vataj, blessed be Her name, is a sacred place where no conflict shall ever be settled again. At the site of her death, a temple was erected in her honor. For decades, soldiers and the pious alike visited this temple to ask for peace. This temple was eventually lost, as it too became a battleground. This time it was Halden attacking from the North to reclaim the Raugetowns. In all the fighting, a strange fog started to eat at every part of the battlefield. Eventually, the temple and both armies were lost.   Over the past century or so, the finest architects in Zafriste have worked tirelessly on creating a church to Our Lady. At first, the King and fellowship wanted to recreate the temple that was lost in the Mere of Martyrs, but decided that it would be far more magnificent to create the largest holy site in the entirety of southern Ulvad. While the outside is nearly a decade from completion, the spires and buttresses of stone and iron are incredibly magnificent. So beautiful that it rivals even the largest chapels of Halden. On the inside, it is a beacon of hope for the sick and wounded. With a dozen rooms dedicated to medical care and treatment: the Church of Saint Vataj is a beacon of hope for those who are desperate.

Architecture

Drawing on real world parallels, the Church of Our Martyred Lady is unfinished, but represents some of the finest parts of gothic architecture. Great spires on each corner, large buttresses reaching far from each side, and intricate stonework.
