Master's Quill

A long time ago when folk still practiced magic on the eastern coast, there was a group of wizards that called themselves "The Three." Pretentious, I know, but they truly were "The Three." All three humans, all incredibly flawed in so many ways.   Juno Malotrescu was the eldest of the three. A real quiet and cantankerous bastard. The man was truly a powder keg waiting for the smallest spark - the littlest reason to explode. Malotrescu always wore a robe akin to a monk's from Halden and he was always barefoot with a large club-like staff in his wrinkled old hand. Luminita Vedea was the sole woman that stood amongst the wizards. She was said to have a lot of class and respect for her colleagues. She was often seen as aloof and naive, yet she schemed far more than any other. It is said that she had an agent in every village from Carovige to Sulaste. Finally, there was Catalo. Truly, he was strange. Entirely hairless, Catalo bore the violent branding of the Church of Halden. Catalo was known better as The Heretic: a mad wizard that managed to survive the torturous inquisition. Coincidentally, these three all had something in common: they yearned to find the Master's Quill.   I know. The Master's Quill is a fable, but they truly believe that such an object existed. It was made from the enchanted feather of an extinct bird. Who enchanted it? Supposedly the "Master" was a magister long before the Storm struck the world. Though his name is lost to time, his knowledge and artifice are still scattered about the world. The Three would inevitably become manic and paranoid. Nearly a hundred years ago, they began a crusade. Each of them believed that they were far more intelligent than the other. Inevitably, they all sought to destroy one another, thus starting and quickly ending a mage war secret to the people of Ulvad. Fallen are the schools of magic and the few practitioners have been forced into hiding out fear. No one quite knows the fate of The Three, but many suspect they yet live: threatening doom upon magisters that dare not share their secrets.   In an ironic truth, no one quite knows what the Master's Quill is capable of. Asking different magi will give you different answers. Some say that anything written with it shall come true like that of a prophecy. Others say that it is a mighty tool that can create magic even without the proper ink and knowledge. Most know it to be a fairy tale: something that mothers tell their children about to lull them to sleep. I, personally believe that it exists and that it is truly out there somewhere. I believe that the entire philosophy of its creation is to drive those that seek it utterly mad. The proof lay above, dear reader.
