Dracondale

Centuries ago, Dracondale was home to a particularly gluttonous dragon known as Macator. Legend has it that the humans that once dwelled there gave her a goat every year to satiate her appetite. This, however, grew particularly more difficult as Macator grew more and more demanding. Eventually, the humans decided that they would rather give up their land rather than feed their own people to the dragon, so they fled to the eastern coast. They formed what is now the great city of Parad. The city was founded by a man by the name of Marius who had close connections with Carovige's royal family. Happy to secure a foothold in the north, they provided builders, supplies, and soldiers in exchange for bringing their city into the nation. In a matter of a year, the city already had walls and proper defenses to hold off the wicked dragon that had inspired this great work of mankind in the first place. Macator eventually caught wind of this new city, but it was far too late. By the time Macator cleared the horizon, she was stuck with ballista bolts the length of horses. Wounded, she fled, never to return.   In more recent years, Harushkans have begun their invasion after discovering an easier way through the ice cap. They have begun setting up camps across the foothills numbering in the thousands. For them, they are looking for a home more hospitable to them all the while pushing against any and all human settlements. For Macator, she can finally retire from hunting. Why spend hours looking for food when the Harushkans are easy prey? The Harushkans, however, can hold their own. Despite this, they have had reports of scouting patrols going missing and a large, winged beast blotting out the sky.   Stone foundations litter the hills of the dale as a strange reminder of life from centuries before the first Paradians settled. Bones and rocks are all there is to be found there. Some foolhardy people believe that there is history to be found in the remains beyond the bones and jagged rocks.   Dracondale has always been threatened by creatures other than Macator or the Harushkan army. Stories are told of fiendish creatures appearing to humans as friendly yet seek to manipulate and trick them into pacts or worse: spiriting them away to the realm of fae. Most believe that the only way to be truly safe in Dracondale is to stay within the walls of Parad. The walls, they say, are the only thing to detour the lure of the trickster spirits that live in the hills and trees.
