This period, later remembered as 'The First Embers,' is characterized by a burgeoning spirit of innovation and the faint stirrings of rebellion.

Innovation, born out of necessity and nurtured in the shadows of despotism, starts to blossom. Artisans, farmers, and thinkers, pushed to the brink by the harsh realities of their existence, begin to devise new ways to cope with and resist their oppressors. They create ingenious tools for agriculture, novel methods of communication to evade surveillance, and rudimentary but effective technologies that ease the burdens of daily life. These advancements, though small in scope, represent a significant leap forward for a people long stifled under the yoke of tyranny.

In the aftermath of The Great Storm, the landscape of Vontia is irrevocably altered. The old order, both the despotic regimes and the organized rebellion against them, lies in ruins.
