Captain's Tithe
The legend says that The Gale will hunt down dishonorable pirates. As not to anger her and to prove their goodwill the Captain of a ship will sponsor a round of drinks for the crew.
The Tradition
Traditionally a captain either pays for the crews drinks at a bar or brings rum onto the ship and pours everyone a glass, but any act of kindness displayed towards ones subordinates is seen as acceptable. As such the "Tithe" isn't to the goddess herself but to the crew. The Stormtamer’s Tithe
Dedicated to the same goddess and given a similar name, "The Stormtamer’s Tithe" is a ritual where devotees call upon the goddesses aspect as a mage to calm the waters When a storm approaches or a ship is already gripped by the winds, if a crew is desperate enough they will call on her and offer or sacrifice an item of great worth. Common offerings are firearms, treasure maps, a ship's flag or similarly symbolic objects. The chosen relic is thrown overboard or tossed into the gale. A variation of this ritual has popped up amongst warships or similar vessels that don't carry valuables. In their version a ship fires a gun salute into the storm.
