Ancient Druidic

The Ancient Druidic language is no longer spoken, only read. All texts in the Grand Skiffor Tower have been written in the language. All druids are taught to read it when they are brought into the order. The language is spoken only when casting spells and only the more powerful spells needing to be spoken to be able to be cast.

Geographical Distribution

The language is currently only used by the Skiffor druids. The language is very rarely taken or referenced outside of the druids as they very rarely need to leave the tower.  The language used to be spoken throughout the entire continent of Tsiki by the Ancient ones who inhabited the land. It is this that makes the druids think that many of the ancient ones were magical, or at least created the magical practice.

Sentence Structure

All spells are structured the same.    Most simple spells have two words.  The first describes the primary idea of the spell, e.g. flame, wind, ward. The second describes how to spell is cast, such as from the palm, the fingertips, or from within. This is the simplest form of a spell, and no spell can be any shorter.   Additional words are added when more complex ideas are brought to the spell. Words added to a spell do not have to be introduced in order, all additional words can be added to the spell, or just a few. A third word could describe how long a spell may need to last, how far-reaching the spell needs to be, who the spell is to affect (for bewitching). For the many different combinations and specific purposes of spells that can be created, many spells are created as they are needed.    For example, the barrier spell that was used to surround the entire continent of Tsiki is a simple ward spell. The primary idea of the spell is a ward. The position of the cast is usually from the palm but for the Barrier, the spell is cast from the crystal in the tower in order to gather enough power for the magnitude of the spell. The additional words describe the distance of the spell, encompassing the entire continent. Due to the size of the spell, a time limit for the spell cannot be created, so the last additional word is to state that the spell requires constant concentration via at least 8 casters.
