Blackhawk Mercenaries
Status: Varies, Mostly Defeated
The Blackhawk Mercenary Company was a large company that offered various mercenary services. A small band of mercenaries under the leadership of a human named John Drakefist clashed with the Virtuous VII on several occasions. The climax of their encounters occurred when the mercenaries were hired to transport several captives to the city of Velenor, two of who were Katrina Feyheart and Farbirk Ironanchor. The party caught up to the mercenaries and killed all but the cleric, with Constantine suffering grievous injuries and at the cost of Najila's life. The locations of the remains of the mercenaries, or of their surviving cleric, are unknown. The Blackhawk Mercenary Company was dissolved by an Imperial Decree after it was discovered that John's band had been working with the Wretched and the Holy Order of the Divine Quartet to the detriment of Imperial citizens.Iarno "Glasstaff" Albrek
Status: Deceased
Iarno Albrek, known in Phandalin as Glasstaff, was a human wizard and former adventurer. He founded a group of bandits known as the Redbrands to control the mining town of Phandalin. He utilized the Cragmaw goblin tribe to exert control over the region surrounding Phandalin. Glasstaff secretly served the drow wizard known as the Black Spider. Using the gangs under his control, Glasstaff carried out the drow's bidding and acted as the figurehead for his schemes. He was killed by the Virtuous VII under the direction of Sildar Hallwinter and his employ under the Black Spider was discovered. He is buried in Phandalin's cemetery.King Grol
Status: Alive (Imprisoned)
King Grol is an old, hunchbacked bugbear and former self-declared king of the Cragmaw goblin tribe. He served Iarno Albrek and aided the wizard in his scheme to control the region surrounding Phandalin. He was defeated by the Virtuous VII in his castle, but managed to survive and escape. He then went on to serve the half-dragon Vrock until he was defeated by the Virtuous VII again and arrested. He is currently being held in the Townmaster's Hall in Phandalin.Nezznar the Black Spider
Status: Deceased
Nezznar, also known as the Black Spider, was a drow wizard and aspiring crime lord. He sought to gain control of a magical forge in the ancient Lost Mine of Phandelver and use it to create and sell magical weapons. To this end, he manipulated several people and made it appear as if his schemes were those of a human wizard and underling named Iarno Albrek. It is unknown if Nezznar worked for anyone, or if his schemes were entirely his own. His plot was foiled by the Virtuous VII and he was forced to face them in battle twice. The first battle ended with his escape, but he was slain in the second after causing the death of Constantine. The location of his remains is unknown.Venomfang
Status: Deceased
Venomfang was an adult, green dragon that made his layer in the Kragkeep Mountains. He was worshiped by a cult of kobolds and other humanoids that he used to raid and steal treasure. He was only discovered by the Virtuous VII when he attacked the necromancer Kost's tower. The party had attacked several of his cultists before that point, but their connection to him was not clear at the time. Venomfang suffered from a debilitating illness that caused him to develop large, puss-filled cysts across his body and that kept his growth stunted. His half-dragon children suffered from the illness as well, but far less severely. He was killed by the party when his son, Vrok, led them to his lair. His head hangs in the party's home, while his body was taken by the Empire.Assets
