gaslight
Artificial lighting produced via the mundane process of burning various gasses inside a glass combustion chamber.
Utility
Used as an alternative lighting source in less developed regions without ready access to a ley line and where crystal is prohibitively expensive.
Manufacturing
Produced in foundries in some regions, and only by cottage shops in others.
Social Impact
Critical for mining, tunelling, and nighttime activity in less developed regions. Expanded utilization enabled by increased extraction of burngas has raised standards of living in less developed regions such as rural Eastern Irle, the Central Kingdoms, and the less developed parts of the southern highlands.

Access & Availability
Universally available and extremely cheap across Visere in regions where it is used at all.
Complexity
The gaslight lamps themselves are extremely simple but there is some complexity involved in extracting, storing, and transporting the burngas used to fuel them.
Discovery
Dates from the mid 2nd Eon around 20,000 BF where examples appear in the archeological record during the Era of the Kingdoms of Metal. It appears to have been utilized heavily in areas without ready access to a ley line due to the relative expense of crystal in those times.
