Gehen Ort

The land of Gehen Ort is the most traversed land in all of Virteron. The name "Gehen Ort" means "Place of walking" in the language of Gehen Volki. The Gehen Volki is simultaneously the name of their language, the name of their people group, and also the name of their culture. The culture of Gehen Volki is supported by the herds of beasts, vicious predators and cunning scavengers. The numerous nomadic, semi-nomadic, and settled tribes and various kingdoms of the Gehen Volki all raid one another as well as the cultures colonizing the coast of Gehen Ort, making battle and banditry extremely common in this region.

Geography

Gehen Ort is a massive mix of expansive savanna, coastal forests, great plains, and rolling hills. The savanna are in the lower elevations in the south, slowly changing to plains as the increase in altitude lowers the temperature.

Fauna & Flora

Beasts form great herds which migrate as they devour the lush grasses which grow here, from red elk, bison, antelope, wildebeest to the majestic parasaurolophus, triceratops and elephants. These animals are both kept by skilled herdsmen, but also stalked poachers or their natural predators like lions, wild dogs, cheetah, hyena, wolves, deinonychus, and the terrible tyrannosaurus rex. Acacia, baobab, and eucalyptus trees dot the savanna in small corpses or as solitary respites of shade. Cottonwood, hardy pines, alder, ash, or oak do the same as the savanna gives way to the temperate plains. Lush grasses for grazing, including elephant grass, and at the edges of the coastal forests bamboo eases the transition from grass to tree.

Natural Resources

Ivory, tusks, horns, antlers, leather, pelts, meat, and sinew can all harvested here in abundance. Acacia wood, baobab wood, and eucalyptus wood are only grown here. Many resin producing plants and trees in transitional or pocket ecosystems also grow here but not ask exclusively.
