Muetadi
The Muetad Tribe lives in the Southern Harq'nar Desert and the Mwamba Highlands. They are known for their bloody religious rituals and violent practices. They are often hired as mercenaries to protect caravans and fight in wars. They have tamed the vicious Makhlab'rabtur who serve as mounts. They use the rabturs very effectively in tribal conflicts and while hunting.
Naming Traditions
Family names
The Muetadi don't use family names because the children are raised by the community opposed to a family group.
Culture
Culture and cultural heritage
During wars, Muetadi will capture any women and children to sell into slavery, or to be sacrificed to their angry gods. They believe that they must sacrifice souls regularly to their gods, so that the gods don't break open the earth and slaughter all living life. Because of this, they constantly are going on raids against neighbouring villages and tribes for sacrifices. This belief has created a warrior culture focused on violence and slaughter.
During religious festivals a great melee is held in honor of the gods. Even though sharp weapons aren't used, it isn't uncommon for people to die during these mock-battles. The fallen are considered a sacrifice to the gods.
Stories are passed down through an oral tradition. They are kept by the shamans of the tribe.
Ideals
Gender Ideals
The Muetadi are a patriarchal society, and women are expected to take care of the camps and children while the men hunt. But despite this, women are held in high regard with the belief that women are inherently magical. Women also serve as sorcerers for the tribe.
Courtship Ideals
For a man to secure a woman's hand in marriage he must complete a task of bravery, strength, or intelligence. According to legend King Jasiri headed into the Harq'nar Desert to capture the most beautiful Makhlab'rabtur that he could find. He found one with beautiful plumage, he captured it with only a rope. When he returned he presented it to Mischana who accepted his proposal and they were married.
