Makhlab'rabtur (Claw Predator)

The Makhlab'rabtur (or Rabtur for simplicty) are a large lizard-like creatures native to the Harq'nar Desert. The Muetadi Tribe has tamed these beasts and uses them for mounts.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Rabtur is a theropod lizard that stands approximately 6ft tall at the shoulders and can grow up to 19ft long. Their distinguishing feature are the massive claws on their first toe. The largest recorded was 9in long. They have a mouth full of sharp teeth and the claws on their fingers are perfect for grabbing onto prey. They also have feathers and quills covering parts of their bodies, which keeps the rabtur warm during the night and protects from sand storms.

Genetics and Reproduction

Rabturs lay eggs like birds. The mothers take care of the nest for approximately forty-two days, regularly turning the eggs to make sure that the heat is evenly distributed. After this the eggs hatch and the mother teaches the hatchlings to hunt and survive.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Rabtur are carnivores, in the wild they prey on ostriches, antelopes, camels, protoceratops, styracosaurus, and other mid sized herbivores. The younger rabturs feed off of small rodents, snakes and scorpions.
