The Elder Drakes

There were 4 once, a draconic pantheon lost and forgotten to time and the rise of Drunos   Ny'Kiris, who embodied Evil in all its forms   Chu'Tiar, who embodied Good in all its forms   Ven'Zail, who embodied Law in all its forms   Ier'Sath, who embodied Chaos in all its forms

Public Agenda

To preserve and raise up the species of Dragons.

History

Before the Dawn of Man, before they proclaimed a year Zero, the world was young and all that ruled it was primordial force. These forces shaped themselves into the elder drakes, becoming avatars of the most fundamental of things. They ruled over the dragons, whom they shaped in their image and wrought them with life. At first, they were multi-hued like creatures of majesty, rainbows given form and shape.   Then came the rise of the Drunos , as other gods took an interest in this plane, they forged their own creations. The dragons fought dearly, but were too few and needed to hibernate. As their lands were pushed back, pushed away, their faithful dwindled and their gods expended what little power they had left to hold what was theirs.   Then came the time of axe and sword and the slaying of the first. Ny'Kiris fell first, most hated of the Elder Drakes. Then came Ven'Zail, who flew to assist his brother. It was said that Ier'Sath flew south and Chu'Tiar flew east, in hopes that the death of their peoples could be stopped in these places.   As the first died, each consecutive generation faded. Their scales, once multi-hued, lost their lustre and their color. In the Elder Days, the Dragons never truly aged, time was a concept foreign to them, but with the import of new gods, time came to have meaning and the ages of the dragons showed on their skins. Their sheen was lost, their colours faded to darkness, and they came to grow old.

Territories

When first they came to being they settled upon the land of Draguin, the massive bodies of these Elder Drakes. As it cooled and they trod upon the land, they carved the mountains and rivers. Their nests became the seas and basins of the world and they made it theirs.   Now, they own nothing, all they once had was lost, taken from the by the Drunos. Many are disgruntled about this. Ny'Kiris saw this a betrayal of the dragons who nurtured the Drunos. He took to battle to reclaim what they had lost, and this battle saw the sinking of an ancient civilization, and the formation of the Neardire. It is said his corpse still lies in the deeps.   Ven'Zail was the second to fall, defending the territory that they had named and hoped to be a home for their kin, She too fell, far to the north of her brother.

Technological Level

The Elder Drakes raised up the first of the Drunos, those called to this place and abandoned by the gods they served. Ven'Zail took pity on them, as did Chu'Tiar, So they taught them to farm, to make metals, to work the land and survive as more than merely servants of disrespectful gods.   Quickly the Drunos surpassed them, for what knew they of martial skill nor the building of shelter. They could carve the world as they pleased.

Priesthood

Only two priesthoods remain, though all dragons bear a devotion to one of the Elder Drakes or another.   Firstly, the Cult of Ny'Kiris. They seek the resurrection of their fallen master, that he may once more rule the world and gift them power.   Secondly, the Church of Chu'Tiar, which exists only upon the continent of Iotrona.

Granted Divine Powers

The most notable use of direct divine powers are the use of Hellfire and Soulfire respectively. Beyond that, the Elder Drakes are powers of such grand scope that much of what they grant is only a tiny portion of their power. Patronage or worship of these ancient dragons by Drunos is less common than other more human centric religions, but those that take up their offer are devastating warriors of their faith.   The Cult of Ny'Kiris often grants their clerics and paladins destructive and borderline cataclysmic spells, capable of rending the fabric of reality in half.   The Church of Chu'Tiar often seeks to heal the world through knowledge. It is common that priests of the Church are often capable of comprehending anything and everything and bear powerful relics from the dawns of creation.
