Pirate Monarchy
Structure
The settlement is run by the Pirate King, also known as "the Honorable". Together with his advisor, they rule over the town and all the pirate visitors that come here. The guards that walk around are crew of the pirates that are docked at the harbour. The other captains have a say of their crew on the ship, but once their crew is on the island, they fall under the collective. Besides the advisor and the pirate king themselves, some conflicts are settled between pirates themselves. As long as someone can witness that it was a mutual fight, the pirates can duel their frustrations out on the island themselves. However, when said fight becomes deadly, more witnesses need to be present in order to make sure that it was a "fair" fight and not a planned murder.
Public Agenda
Breaking the following rules leads to death by hanging or death at the hands of the pirate king himself.
- Do not cross anybody on the island and within borders of the harbour.
- Fights can only be deadly if they were mutually agreed upon. Witness(es) needs to testify in order to make it not a murder trial.
- No murders.
- No stealing from establishments and non-pirate residents that live on Lonebrook.
- No disrespect to the tempest gods.
- No boogieboarding
- Arm wrestling is a legal way of solving a dispute. The winner of the arm wrestle is also the winner of the dispute.
- No picking flowers from the monastery garderns. If you break this rule, you'd have to work in the monastery for a week.
Assets
The pirate king has direct control over the blacksmith, bowyer, gunsmith and temple. However, the pirate king does everything he can to also protect the farmers, tavern, shipwrights, the general store and the monastery because they make the place inhabitable.
History
The settlement was once just a quiet town with a monastery full of genasi, where pirates hid among the others. Once it started thriving, the settlement grew quickly and more pirates got interest in the settlement. It’s a settlement flooded with pirates and a pirate king. There are lots of non-pirates living on the island, and either they live well because they provide for the pirates or they are tiptoeing, waiting to leave once. The land is often used to parley or rest. The pirates enjoy the brewers here.
