The Needle

"We aren't running this station no more, Rannic."

"The Needle is the safest place in the Randon System. Well, safest place with living people that is."
A massive, mobile refueling station, the Needle sits in the most precarious place to refuel a starship-- between two binary pulsars, that have also recently gone supernova. The EM radiation and gravitational pressure will disrupt, destroy, and distract all but the most capable pilots. How did it end up in between the two gravitational wells? A good pilot.

The Needle was originally built by the Randoni as a means to conduct interstellar deals. Similar to their homeworld, the space station was a mobile bazaar with a wide array of galactic paraphernalia, all collected from visiting different systems. The great space station held a Class 3 Hyperdrive, making it capable of traveling the hyperspace lanes. Unfortunately, soon after its construction, it was often plagued by smuggler's and gangs that provided protection for the station and took a cut of all deals.

The Needle is comprised of 10 Decks:

  1. Lower Engines - The Bilge Deck is hardly full of any life or activity, but it houses access to the internal maintenance tubes that run throughout the vessel.
  2. Narrows - Unknown to most of the passengers/visitors aboard the vessel, the Needle is able to land in atmosphere. The Narrows, are smaller decks with a variety of security systems, hidden compartments, and additional fuel. Due to the tight quarters and multiple levels of security, most avoid it, but the Narrows house a select few individuals who prefer isolation and privacy for their business.
  3. Bot Slice - The main hub of droids and droid maintenance. Aside from official station business, this is a small factory and bazaar where engineers and mechanic specialist build and re-purpose droids of all kinds. Here specialized modules can be implanted and found for sale in a variety of droids. The port droid factory is guarded by several security droids and observers.
  4. Low Bazaar - The 'Low' houses dozens of traders within a large near-deck wide bazaar. Goods are strung atop ceilings, running the length of a once-cargo deck, wall to wall, nearly endless amount of strange baubles and goods can be found here. Whether they're valuable or not is a different matter.
  5. The Docks - A ship-wide space built for the landing and housing of vessels. Here all passengers and visitors are funneled, and an array of automated and droid-supported mechanisms direct transport of goods.
  6. The Stop - The "High Bazaar" with entertainment and high priced goods. Named the "Stop" as most passengers are only allowed up to this deck, no higher and most wouldn't need to go further. Here there are higher quality goods (more expensive) than the Low and often more exotic and rare.
  7. Maintenance Control - The maintenance deck holds a variety of supplies and infrastructure vital to servicing and the daily operation of the vessel, including large fuel vats, internal controls and thrusters.
  8. Aft Wings - The Aft Wings are storage banks for excess fuel, armaments, and additional access to the ventral Turbolasers. This area is guarded by security locks and droids.
  9. Forward Wings - The Forward Wings are main storage for the trading of the space port. The highest level for the droid laborers that deliver different storage through the station. Here also lie the main controls for directing the labor droids. Aside from the great holds of cargo, there is also access to the dorsal Turbolasers of the station.
  10. The Bridge/"Star Dome" - The Star Dome contains elegant quarters (once made for Randoni officers), a premiere lounge and dining service, with the ship master control and bridge. The Dome has its own cache of emergency supplies in case the station needs to be placed into locked down and has the highest security of the station, with regular de-arming of visitors and radiation detectors for explosives.
