Yallensport

"If for some reason you end up in Yallensport (which I would recommend you not ) It will be as if you've transported to a new world. The Goblinoid races take much pride in the civilization they've built, and the progress in technology. This is nowhere more apparent in their only connection to the outside world. Architecture that seamlessly incorporates machinery, and bellowing smokestacks as wide as towers. INventors plying their trade in many ways, but none more so than in Vabensmithing, the calling card of Hobsian ability."   -"Adventures of an Exiled Wanderer" by Arin the "Aeres Bowar" of Hobsrunne
Yallensport, the capital city of Hobsrunne
https://www.worldanvil.com/w/vestrata-alcheius/a/hobsrunne-article?preview=true? is known all over for its technological leaps. Many prototypes have shown the ingenious nature of their people. From machines that can copy books, horseless carts, to unbelievable innovations in war, Yallensport embodies the future of the world as a whole.   Aside from the inventors that call the city home, Yallensport is also known for being a major producer of high quality materials. Metals of intriguing strength, wood hard yet flexible. If the country did not sustain itself off of the technological items it sold, it would off of it's manufacturing industry. Large factories spout fumes from smokestacks as wide as towers, refining large amounts of coal, textiles, timber, and metals.   Chief among the sites to see in the city are the Gran Vabensmede of where the largest amount of Hobsian weapons are made. Everything from swords to Khanons(A metal tube that shoots forth a large ball with explosive force) The forge itself is employed by the Hobsian military, and solely produce for their use.   Another stop is the Hus uv Sevir Trib, better known in Common as "House of The Seven Tribes" Most are not offered a chance to visit this place, like many other buildings in Yallensport. Ever paranoid of external threats, the Parlament of chiefs, as well as the Uberden Shahn(The equivalent to a king in other countries) forbid access from outsiders and peasantry. The structure itself can be glimpsed just right from the port, as it sits high above the city on a sacred hill. A ring of stone surrounds it, primitive stonework from the dawn of their civilization.
"No, I can't say anything bad about the city itself. I walked to the heavily barricaded entrance, expecting to enter a city of disgusting depravity, and unbearable barbarism. The plethora of nomadic goblin tribes seem far removed from this place however. The streets are paved, lanterns line the walkways, and warm architecture insulates against the cold climate. Modern technologies make the lives of those there much easier, but does not make them complacent. Traditional customs are held, and the stoic nature of their lesser cousins is still a commonality. I know that I despise them, but I felt a twinge of respect for their ingenuity." -Jorgen Farnir, Neo-Thridean Ambassador

History

  • The Winter Austavat Festival is a rite of passage for man young Hobgoblins and Goblins, who are lined up in the square, according to tribal heritage, and blessed by the sprinkling of earth and water "to remind them of the mud their forms are shaped from"
  • The city itself is second oldest, the first being "Cradell" ("Pit Of The First" is the translation)
  • Many in the city are formally educated, with an ability to do basic math, write, and read   (Old Common)
  • The "Hus" is purported to be the site where the tribes were unified by Yog Yithal himself (Yog Yithal being the Goblinoid god)

Architecture

Stone buildings with cobbled pathways. Wooden beams the size of masts lead to the roofs, which arc in a semi-circular pattern. Larger buildings sport more beams, and multiple stories.
