Kordovarian Stronghold

"Civri?"   "No, it's Kivri."   "Jorimund?"   "No, it's Joriman!"   "No it's not! *hits other with a club*

The Cordovarian Stronghold is the second-most important religious site in Vestrata. The ancient temple inside the Eudotis Munito or the Hold of the Devout, is the oldest of the Kordo-Civric faith. The schism in the denominations can also be attributed to this place.

History

Ever since theologians and scholars have studied at this site, the debate over the ancient translations has caused the rift in the Kordo-Civric faiths. Most engravings of the ancient story are fragmented, with sections referencing a "Justicar of supreme faith" While other such passages bring up "The fleet-footed saint Civri, who delivered the word of the Truth." These denotations cannot be attributed to the same figure, as the accounts differ to much in their surviving tales.   This sparked debate in the gathered community, and led to the separation of the Kordovarian and Civricism faiths. Long (and sometimes bloody) disputes among the sects plagued the lower regions of Vestra, and some of Eropei before a council between the two churches was called. Today, the two large halves hold a stable but strained respect for each other.

Guilds and Factions

  • The Kordovarian Ecclesiarchy: The head of the many Kordovarian churches throughout Vestrata. The Truth's Arbiter commands the delegation of bishops and clergymen
  • Hospitallers of the Justicar: Though their presence is not as strong as in Fort Kivri, the Hospitallers operate a small hostel (donated by Baron William the Anointed) that was converted from an abandoned church. Here the soldiers gather and are currently occupied with the repair of the place.

Tourism

Notable sights include:
  • The Champion of Truth: A famous statue, depicting the Kordovarian prophet of much renown. The metal clad warrior is depicted thristing their sword into the air, with a beheaded serpentine figure coiled at its feet, forming the base of the statue. A plaque denoting who paid for the relief (a prior Baroness of the territory) and a small prayer for those who visit to recite;
    "Pray for truth, for there are those that seek to conceal it. Fight against secrecy, for there are some who work for it. Help others to learn, for some live in ignorance. Face Mistress Deceit, for she will stand behind your ear."

  • The Jagged Shoreline: Were it not for it's scenic (and dangerous) geological formation, the "Devout Hold" would be another port town for ships to stop at. This, as well as the steep cliffs that begin to form farther south, keep it far from viable. Another name for the rocks is "The Serpent's Teeth" as local legend claims they're the scattered fangs of Joriman

  • The Hold of the Devout: The building for which the city is named, The main stronghold of the area is littered with iconography of Civri/Kivri, and all sorts of beautiful depictions. Large crumbling archways, massive rooms filled with well preserved furniture, and full armories. Even hints of Hekat, Thritean, and surprisingly Titanovan influence can be found, much to the dismay of scholars. The items and writings, along with the oversized nature of the furnishings (With most weaponry and furniture reaching measurements a two Giants could use at once)  have lead some to theorize that Civri/Kivri themselves must have had a varied group of followers in her time, and this puts the original range of her fame much wider.
