Alkeltephon

After the fall of Akel, the Ayam who fled from the burned city roamed the land, looking for a new place to call home. The rejection and hostility afforded to them caused no end to their grief. Eventually, the pleading to their neighbors turned to cries for Yawoc.   It was Alkel'Atautl1 who called the warriors of the tribe to fight. Gathering the shamans of the Thraamok Tung, and asking for their blessing in battle, Alkel'Atautl received his answer in the form of a lone bird, flying overhead. The sight of a Peaquin2, the treasured bird of Upper Amarron sailed over his head as the priests worked their magic. "It is their answer." he said, pulling a spear to his shoulder.   The spear flew into the heart of the bird, its lifeless body falling to the sand dunes below. "We shall go to the north, to the lands of Ishem3, where we will build a new city, one that will not be turned to ash."
-The History of The Alkeltephon, as told orally by Yuum k'iino
*The Elder Thra'am that the name is derived from either denotes the name as meaning "Savior of Akel", or Son of Akel" with most scholars leaning towards the former. *A colorful bird that mainly populates central/upper Amarron. The Upper Ammaronite followers revere the animal, and it is considered taboo to harm or kill these birds. *The Ayam's name for Ishravan, the Upper Amarronite god-king.
With the other tribal identities of the Thraamok Ayam taking varied approaches toward survival in the sparsely hospitable lands of Khemkavan and Upper Amarron, the Alkeltephon ("Warriors of Akel" in Elder Draconic) found themselves in a harsh position. Their southern neighbors refused to help any tribes of lizardmen unless they converted to worship of their god, and their northern neighbors were not even that kind. Forceful rejection from the north and religious pressuring from the south forced the more aggressive members of the brood to take charge, one being the legendary Alkel'Atautl, who the groups name is from.   While the oral traditions survive to this day, some discrepancies exist in the different versions of the myth, such as the reason for raiding the northern lands of Amarron. A fantastical spin from the tribal elders could be a clever reinvention of what was actually a calculated move between the Alkel's warlord and the Khemite leaders of the south, who could have put the ideas into their heads. Stories of treasure and luxury far beyond what their old home once had. How else could these warriors, who had never even set foot on the northmen's soil?   As the story above illustrates, the brood moved all the way north, raiding as they went. After their warlords defeat, the settlement and integration into Upper Amarronite society was a slow and gradual process, to the point that a blending of the two cultures has occurred. The majority of their peoples were gifted the city of Kaal'Taraj Gha, known in Common as "Home of The Onyx Scales"
