The gnomish leader of the Cartographer's Guild, Wendell is a prolific explorer and a ruthless warrior.
Forming the Cartographer's Guild shortly after the discovery of Hadrashar, Wendell used the skills he learned in the Bluestone Academy in Umbria to begin exploring and mapping the new continent. However on his third expedition, he was attacked by beasts and nearly killed when the Shari discovered him. Having only been two years since a tribe of nomads killed the original discoverers of Hadrashar, Wendell felt this was a worse fate until the Shari healed him and offered to teach him how to fight, with their ancient methods.
Over the next year Wendell learned the Shari martial arts and became a famous adventurer. As a result his guild's focus changed from exploring to adventuring and mercenary work. This greatly expanded the guild's members and many cartographers and explorers became trained in basic martial skills to join the ranks of the droves of hopeful adventurers.
Shortly after converting the guild, Wendell founded the city of Backwater on the extremely large Mardis Oasis. He resides there with many of the highest ranking cartographers.
