Temple of the Storm Lord

The Storm Lord attracts warriors, athletes, sailors, and those who face adversity on a daily basis. He glories in victory against challenges, the harder the better.
Temples of Kord are spartan in their decor, almost resembling a military academy in some ways. They're spacious and airy, with at least one gymnasium, a sauna, and warm and cold baths. There's always a space outside for sparring and athletic competitions. Anyone may come to train.

Divine Origins

Kord's original followers are the people of Thule, a northern Ionian country. They have a long history as sailors and warriors, and their shipborne raiding parties used to be the terror of the north seas. During the Dawn War, they followed their Storm Lord into battle far and wide. Other war gods fell, but Kord remained through sheer force of will even as the Corrupted nearly killed him a few times. He has since been adopted by the cultures of the gods he outlived.

Tenets of Faith

Bravery above all. There is no glory in cowardice. Strength is the path to greatness, but greatness is the responsible use of strength. The glory of the Storm Lord lives through your own glory on the battlefield.

Worship

Any contest of strength or endurance is an act of worship to Kord. Meetings of his temples usually involve a brief speech from the head priest(ess), followed by an intense training session. Different congregations have their own forms of training; some are more focused on martial arts, some are focused on training for athletic competitions, and some more remote temples are dedicated to teaching wilderness survival (including such skills as running, swimming, and climbing).
The Storm Lord presides over the month of Thundering, eighth on the calendar. His holy day is celebrated with all sorts of competitions, such as gladitorial games and races. The biggest of these events is the Kordish Games, which are held in Thule every other year. The greatest athletes, sailors, and warriors in the world gather for two weeks to compete in virtually every sport known to Erden. The top three competitors of each event earn a circlet made of copper, bronze, or iron (the three materials historically used to make weapons), with iron being the highest award.
