Rao
The Peace-Maker
Rao the Peace-Maker is the god of peace, reason, and mercy. The twin brother of Ioun, he teaches that all thinking creatures can be taught to live peacefully through reason and compassion. Unlike his sister, he is more of a philosopher than a scholar; Rao and his followers prefer to develop their spirits and have deep discussions about abstract concepts like the nature of good and evil, rather than cultivating their minds and accumulating practical knowledge. He is known as the source of a philosophical technique known as the Raoan method, in which the teacher encourages the student to examine their logic by asking "Why?" repeatedly.
Most depictions of Rao have him as an aged man, bald as a stone but with a bushy white mustache, a short beard, and thick eyebrows. He dresses in simple blue robes.
