Conduit

Conduits can come in many different shapes and forms. Almost anything can be a conduit so long as it meets a single requirement of being made with a chunk of meus crystal.
The effectiveness of the conduit is another matter, however. These tools function best based on their contiguous size and purity. Larger crystals can grant more precise spell direction, but there are diminishing returns to consider.
A benefit is first noticable at a size of 1 cubic centimeter. After 100 cubic centimeters, the benefits are harder to notice. In addition, a crystal the size of that size becomes less practical to bring around.
(This is assuming the crystal is 100% pure. At lower purities, the benefits become harder to notice at much smaller sizes. At 60% pure meus, a 20 cubic centimeter piece is needed to meet the effects of a 1 cubic centimeter of 100% pure meus.)

Significance

Conduits are one of the two basic tools for mages practicing auralism. These tools are useful in channeling a mage's spells, reducing the amount of mental strain imposed on their mind when casting. In addition, the conduits can aid in directing spells for more delicate and precise tasks and uses. Conduits are useful across all branches of auralism for this reason, and the nature of their cheap materials makes it easy to construct them. However, the relative lack of interest and patience for the practice reduces the demand for auralism implements. Thus, there is a low supply and moderate cost, often prohibiting even casual practice at the middle or lower class.
