Old Norvan Tribes

In the time of the Old Wars, there were many Anthro-Rodentia tribes scattered around Norvus, each with their own culture and customs. Over time, more and more cultures were absorbed by the Conflux through necessity or conquest. After many years, only records remain of the vast majority. Here are listed just a few.

Oceli

This people generally dwelt in the northern rainforests of Norvus, where they built a life among the trees, safe from the marauding predators below. The Oceli worshipped the sun, giver of all life to Veron, and as such, they venerated the plants of the forest and most especially the trees, the most direct receivers of the sun's life that reached forever upward to receive it.   The Oceli sustained themselves via primitive hydroponic farms, located at the top of their tree-settlements in order for the sunlight to reach them. The altitude also granted them a measure of protection against the usually ground-bound Blight, but the plants were otherwise very vulnerable, and once a few spores found their way into the rainforests, infected trees spread the disease to the Oceli's crops, forcing them to search for other means of survival in the Conflux.

Lawaii

Found almost anywhere around the coasts of Norvus, the Lawaii were the most widespread of all the recorded tribes. As opposed to most tribes, which lived a predominantly agricultural existence, the Lawaii were fishermen. Of course, it may be more accurate to call them fish hunters. The Lawaii were expert harpooners and, while they did trap smaller game to sustain themselves, the constantly craved larger and larger prey. The greater the catch, the greater the glory. The most skilled of harpooners became legends, known as far and wide as the Lawaii themselves.   Most Lawaii tribes these days have joined the Conflux, opting for an easier, simpler life; but a few still roam the coasts looking for greater challenges in the sea.

Felsedi

The Felsedi lived in the Badlands near the center of Norvus as far as anyone can remember. Most peoples would leave; the badlands are an unforgiving, dangerous place to live, the rocky ground is barely suitable for farming, and giant insects prowl through the night, but the Felsedi take great pride in their ability to overcome the challenges of the Monster-infested desert. To them, it is a refiner's fire, out of which come the greatest warriors in the world. Before the Conflux, few dared to challenge that belief.   After a season of blight left the tribe hungry the Conflux, sensing an opportunity, organized a military operation and subdued nearly all Felsedi villages simultaneously. The full might of the Felsedi was never truly brought to bear against the Conflux; if it had, perhaps the world of Veron today would look very different.
