The Dark Era began with a whimper, following a brief respite in the midst of the Great Death. The death of the Roaring Trinity meant all magical capabilities of the Ancient Dragons had effectively vanished, leaving them vulnerable. This was the beginning of the mass extinction of the Ancients.

Background

Much of the damage that the world suffered from during the Dark Era was dealt within the first one hundred years of its onset, on top of the damage done during the Great Death itself.
