The Gate

Encompassing the barracks and the wall, The Gate serves as the entrance into Verdan. At all times guards can be seen around The Gate either manning the wall, guarding farmers as they tend to the farms outside the city or relaxing in the barracks waiting for their next assignment. A priest is also stationed at The Gate at all times to provide religious support to the soldiers as well as maintain a reassuring presence for the guards and farmers venturing outside the walls.

Alterations

Since the arrival of Hillshur at the base of the Niatnuom, The Gate has been upgraded with several Ballista to act as a form of defense against hostile forces; be it on the ground or in the sky.

Architecture

The Gate is the first thing seen when entering Verdan and the last thing seen when leaving it. As such, the church has made sure The Gate is heavily decorated by religious iconography and some of the artisans best works to help strengthen the spirits of the citizens as well as entice any who visit the city. The beautiful works of art however clash with the intimidating ballista mounting the wall and the myriad of soldiers walking about.
