Faylarin

The Ones From The Other World

The Faylarin

are not native to the world of Vejun. They come from the world of Falthar, a world once plagued by war between two kingdoms, now united under one flag. The Faylarin never worried themselves with the troubles of the war, merely opting to stay in their forest homes suspended in the trees, but this would ultimately be their downfall as doing so caused them to lose most of their forest homes during the early stages of the war. This forced to move to specially preserved areas of forest that the kingdoms called "preservations". Then, when presented with the opportunity to move to a world with a large forest, some decided to move, abandoning their old families for a better life.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Faylarin are tall humanoids with features similar to the wood elves of Toril with their slender frame and pointed ears. The main difference comes in when you look closely at their eyes. Faylarin or someone with Faylarin blood will always have a glowing purple iris, sometimes mixing in with other their other natural eye color if they are a half-breed.

Genetics and Reproduction

Faylarin have a reproduction and gestation period almost identical to humans. One strange feature of the Faylarin is that they can actually reproduce with just about any other humanoid species, with the Fay half of the genes always persisting throughout generations. The Faylarin genes commonly provide only two visual mutations in the half-Fay offspring, a taller stature, and a glowing purple strand mixed into the normal color of their iris.

Growth Rate & Stages

Faylarin and half-fay tend to have a lifespan of about 200 years, maturing at the age of 30 and being considered "old" at the age of 120. A half-fay will fallow this long lifespan no matter how long their other half's life span is.

Ecology and Habitats

The Faylarin commonly make cities suspended in the trees of forests. This is because they excel at traversing the forest, able to skillfully jump from branch to branch or run on the undergrowth without faltering.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Faylarin have a slow metabolism, being able to thrive on only one good meal a day. This lets them maintain highly sustainable hunting patterns while opting to forage for vegetables and fruits.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Feylarin tend to stay inside the Oberon Woods, but some are known to venture outwards to live in other human cities or join the Feline Keidran caravans.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Faylarin have incredible perception when in a forested environment, able to spot creatures and abnormalities among the trees and bushes with the slightest of ease. In addition, Faylarin also have a natural sensitivity to magical auras. Other than this, they have the sensory abilities of a normal human.

Civilization and Culture

Average Technological Level

While the conveniences of a modern city are available for the Faylarin to use, they refuse to use such devices opting to live off the land using handmade tools and such, though this does not mean they do not have things like metal tools and ovens and such, merely that they do not mine for metals opting to trade with the Birgkin to get metal and creating alternatives for appliances using Magitech.
