Mons, god of duels and competition

Mons is one of the original gods, born in the needle of Durun in the ancient days. Mons Domain was that of Fighting and competition, and, like his domains suggest, he was fast to challenge other gods and look to hone his powers. Mons was never an explorer, but when new sources of power where found he would hurl himself at them and master them. Such was also the case when the shadowfell was created. Mons enjoyed the primeval war, and sided with Shar and the pantheon of Shadows during that time. Eventually the war died down in the material plane, and moved more towards the needle of Durun. However there was also a new revelation in regards to mortals: their prayers where a prime source of power for gods. Mons was intrigued by this and wanted to master this power. The prayer of mortal relied on fame, and so with the help of many gods he transcended and became a greater deity, in charge of the pantheon of riches at the beginning of the age of expansion.   However this title would not last for long, as Mons would be usurped during the age of plagues and would go back to being the god of Duels and fighting. Mons did not particularly mind, as he had set his sights on a new challenge. There where many new gods that resided in the upper and lower planes connected to the needle of Durun. He would explore these realms and would learn to master new approaches to combat. He also began experimenting with the help of his old friend Shar how to manipulate the rules of planes, and explored why planes had the rules they did.   After pursuing this to a degree he was satisfied with he turned his attention again to a new challenge. During the current age the consensus of gods is that the needle of Durun is the most dangerous of planes with the most unique laws and least understood powers that reside within it. And of all the layers in the needle of Durun the most dangerous in terms of combat was of course mt. Vindex. Mons would limit himself to not use some of his stronger powers, essentially fighting as though he where a mortal. Yet after a couple centuries he wound up atop mt. Vindex where he is currently plotting what his next undertaking will be. He enjoys the challenges that come his way from being the champ of mt. Vindex, and ultimately the master of the rules of this layer.   Mons is without a doubt one of the most dangerous and strongest of all the gods. Some believe that if he used his full power he could overthrow all the gods in the pantheon of riches on his own, and that the only reson he is not the transcended of the pantheon is because he simply does not care. He does make sure to spread his religion among the mortals, mostly thru arenas and similar forms of competition, as he has found that direct prayer is not needed if ones domain is central enough to a culture.
