Din

Nestled deep in the Eldin mountains, on the Fordren side, lies the mining town of Din. Originally situated here due to the discovery of a silver mine, it was soon discovered that the location was positively teeming with resources alongside the deep silver vein - copper, iron and coal were all in the nearby mountains in different directions, but most important was the discovery of the glittering gemstone caves that litter the mountainside. Nobody quite knows what caused these caves to form, but they are quite literally encrusted with various types of gem, embedded directly into the walls. The more spectacular of these are considered tourist attractions, and it is considered good luck to take the girl one is courting to Din and have her choose a gemstone type from the wall to have in her ring.   The town itself is mostly home to miners, however it also houses a small number of artisans and jewellers who are what draw outsiders to the town - jewellery crafted in Din is known to be of uncommon quality, and of late its proximity to the newly-built New Andar has doubled their customer base.   Most popular of all is the jeweller and silversmith Ankha, a woman who appears human but has an air about her of great mystery. Her jewellery is so delicate and beautiful that it almost seems to defy reality, and she is also capable of imbuing her pieces with great magic for the right price.   The town is roughly split in half - the front half nearer the entrance valley has all the shops and inns, where the back half is mostly miners homes. The miners are almost antagonistic towards outsiders, but tend to keep to themselves unless forced into interaction with tourists and shoppers.
