Trace Origin

History is a fragile thing; easily swayed by those in power or by miscommunications between dialects. There is only one way to know the whole truth behind the blade that slayed thousands, or the crown that oversaw both peace and war. While this spell is only capable of discerning the origin of a specific item, it is the first step in a diviner's capability to understand event lost to time.   Trace origin works well with memory  and read emotion  to determine why an item was made and what it was likely used for. Diviners be warned, however. The strongest emotion associated with an item might be far down its lifetime, and may contradict with its original purpose.

Effect

Trace the roots of history back to the creation an item. Whether magical or material, every item was created for a purpose. This spell allows the caster to see where and when an item was made, and sometimes by whom.

Side/Secondary Effects

If the item is made up of components from other items (like spare parts) or if the item was broken down or melted and remade into something else, this spell can get fuzzy. An inexperienced diviner may falsely identify the origin of an item, which will of course lower the accuracy of the history they're trying to determine. There's no bonafide way to avoid this - only experience and practice can help a diviner see through the layers of an item's history.

Manifestation

There is no discernable visual when the spell is cast - except by the caster who can see the memories. Most diviners close their eyes to better be able to focus on the memories, as they come to them like images in their mind. In other words, they continue to see the world around them as usual but the memories are planted in their minds like thoughts.
