Silver sighed in relief as the city came into view. They had been flying for a while, and the route from Opal valley to Nightmare Reef was always a tricky trip.
"You got everything, right?" They yelled, hoping that Luna could hear them over the howling wind. 
If Luna said anything back, it had been caught and torn up the gale. Guess they weren't getting an answer until they landed to unpack their stuff. All those bags of trinkets, food, and most importantly, news and information. 
Silver loved this job. Being able to fly all around the continent with a friend, showing bits of the world to anyone who wanted to see. It was fun. 
Smiling to themselves, they dove towards the city, ready to spread more of the world to others.

Dragoneer Merchants are a two-person team of people who travel the world, collecting items, and trading trinkets and information to anyone who wants to see the world. Kind of like a travelling merchant plus a newspaper company.

Career

Qualifications

All Dragoneer merchants, whether Dragon or Merchant, must have undergone all basic education. 
Merchants must have a specific license that forbids them from selling fake goods and spreading misinformation, and each dragon must have at least 5 years of consistent flight training under their belt.

Payment & Reimbursement

Both the dragon and merchant are given a good pay of 40 quaxels a day, as well as funds for travel fees and food. Since travel is a huge part of this job, any kind of difficulty, any kind of problem is already payed for by the employers. Whether it be an injury, a loss of supplies, or a place to stay.

Purpose

Dragoneer Merchants are people dedicated to spreading information and goods from all over the world. They are sort of like traveling newspaper stands mixed with some of the shops you'd see in a market selling exotic treasures.

Social Status

This is a profession that is usually mildy sought after. They are considered essential to the workings of Valyria, and are viewed upon in a very positive light.

Demographics

Dragoneer merchants are somewhat rare, due to needing a duo of people who know each other well enough to travel together for long periods of time, as well as the proper education and requirements.

History

Before, Dragoneer merchants were only a team of one. This proved difficult with transportation, but then the dragons stepped up and offered to let some of their kind join as both a transportation method and a travel buddy.  This was a great success, and now it has become the widespread job it is today.
