Zelfian King Suicide

The tradition of Zelfian King Suicide began with the death of King Zeelan Kroon in 131 EN. Believing Zeelan Kroon committed suicide as a way of cementing his name in history following the defeat of the Leylan Empire, other kings of the Kingdom of Zelfmordenar began to mimic the actions of Zeelan Kroon to ensure their names in the history books following great victories. Zelfian Kings who would not engage in the tradition after a decade in power would be thought of as cowards by the public.
The tradition was at its height during the Zalonian invasion in the decade of 100 kings between 335 EN - 345 EN, which also lead to the rise of the Faron Dynasty when the last of the Kroon dynasty committed suicide on the throne.  The tradition also lead to a split in the king's court with a small minority group of anti-suicide patrons, who believed the Kingdom was more prosperous when the king lived.
