The First Humans

Leave this Paradise forever! You will never again set foot on Isal!
This is the tale of the first humans, Fer and Leya, and how they attempted to kill the Allfather Hott and were banished eternally from Isal. It is for this reason that humanity now dwells on Gelacad, amidst horrific creatures and monsters of pure evil.

Summary

Several years after the death of Achiad, Hott and the Gods established their rule over the realms. Hott stood on the edge of Isal, gazing down at the realms below, and felt something was missing.   He was the ruler of all the realms, and yet no subjects paid him homage, none came to worship before him. Hott shared his frustration with his wife Eyrid - who decided something could be done about it.   Eyrid travelled far across Isal, searching for a creature that could pay homage to the Gods. In the edges of Isal, in the dense forests, she found Fer and Leya. Eyrid channeled her power through the pair, transforming them into the likeness of the Gods and granting them intelligence far superior to the other beasts and animals of the realms.   Eyrid took the pair back to Hott, presenting them before him as his new subjects. Hott was delighted, and spent the evening telling them stories. He told them about the War against the Trolls, the Death of Vastein, the Great Hunt of Maed. Finally, he told them about the death of Achiad   Fer and Leya went to their home, built for them by Audun as a perfect work of architecture. But Fer could not stop thinking about the death of Achiad, how Hott had travelled across the land to obtain a weapon capable of killing him. Fer started to wonder, if Hott could murder Achiad - why could he not murder Hott? And take this land for himself?   In the midst of night, Fer travelled to the Smith with his wife Leya. Fer asked the Smith for a weapon, like Hott once asked, that would be capable of killing a God. The Smith replied exactly the same: 'Your eyes, mortal - I will give you this weapon in exchange for your sight'   Fer immediately carved out his eyes, screaming horrifically as blood gushed from his head, but he did not stop - he knew he would get his vision back, as Hott did. The Smith placed a dagger in Fer's hands, but Fer's sight did not return.   'I cannot see! Why can I not see?', Fer demanded, struggling to find his voice amidst the agonising pain he felt.   'Hott gave his sight believing he would never see again, that was a sacrifice. You gave your sight believing this weapon would heal it, that is no sacrifice worthy of a weapon - you will remain blind', the Smith coldly replied.   Leya guided Fer back to the palace of the Gods, believing that once Fer could wield Kalride his sight would return. In the midst of the night, Fer approached Hott - who slept in his chamber. Raising the dagger above his head, Fer plunged the knife deep into Hott.   Hott awoke, and Fer heard the scraping sound as he unsheathed Kalridhe from his belt. Though blood poured from the God's chest, it did not affect him in the slightest. Fer heard Leya scream as Hott raised his sword above his head, and brought it down onto Fer - severing his left hand from his body.   Then, Hott sheathed his sword, and spoke.   "You will leave Isal, I will cast you out onto Gelacad. Your descendants will live amongst the monsters and creatures of evil, you will struggle every moment for food, for warmth, for shelter. The rest of your existence will be suffering, as will your children's, and your children's children!"   Hott summonded the Elhenir, his personal team of fighters, who chained Fer and Leya. Hott summoned his boat, and road to the edge of Isal where the lake spills over the edge, cascading down onto the realms. Hott grabbed Fer in one hand, and Leya in the other. He tossed both of them over the edge of the world, cursing them as they fell towards Gelacad.   "Leave this Paradise forever! You will never again set foot on Isal!
