The Silver Lancers
The Silver Lancers is a mercenary company founded in 987 AD by Magnus Silver. They are the largest and most famous of all mercenary companies in Valoroth.
Unlike most mercenary companies, the Silver Lancers maintain exceptional discipline, and they are as loyal as any born and bred soldier. In their nearly five hundred year history, the Silver Lancers have never broken a contract with their client.
As their name suggests, the real power of the Silver Lancers comes from their cavalry. The company maintains a cavalry force of 3,000 lances, as well as infantry troops numbering nearly 12,000 men.
The Silver Lancers have recently been hired by Richard the Protector to lend assistance in the war with the Stone Dwarves. Hiring the company was by no means a small expense, but better to have the Silver Lances as allies than have them hired by the enemy.
Public Agenda
The Silver Lancers have no public agenda. Having an agenda means risking the alienation of potential clients who do not agree with them.
The only code the Lancers live by is that of coin and honoring their contacts.
Assets
The Silver Lancers are incredibly well funded. They operate in the same way a government might, having a central treasury, organizing contracts with entire regions, and collecting taxes from their members in the form of membership fees.
