Shu-Shi

Demographics

Shu-Shian demographics can be described as a harmonious balance between human and elvish cultures and populations. A few subcultures exist but they do not directly conflict with each other since many rely on each other. The two main subcultures are called "Shu" and "Shi." Shu culture revolves around horticulture and Shi culture revolves around animal husbandry. Both culture's values combine to turn the kingdom into the continental bread basket.

Government

Shu-Shian depends on a council of wise men. Up to a maximum of 6 Wisemen can take a seat on the council, but every county has at least 1 Wiseman representing them to prevent corruption. The seat holders attain their position by the demonstration of wisdom whether by contest or by general knowledge. Either way, there are elections held to finalize decisions. This system is not classist and allows for any member to ascend to a governing position. The head council member is elected by other council members by a majority vote of at least 4-6. A head counsel member can be unseated if they are found guilty of corruption in the same way they were elected. A head counsel member has the authority to fix or improve any county they govern but must notify other council members before any action is taken. Any matter larger than individual counties must be reconciled by all members of counsel. However, any member that disagrees with large-scale actions may, within reason, deny the action in their represented territory.

Infrastructure

Roads of Shu-Shi are predominantly dirt however certain areas may have stone or paved roadways depending on the desire to show prestige. Sewage is handled by landfilling, burning, and finally burial. When getting rid of the waste, special alchemical reagents or magics are used to supplement the nutritional value of the land created. Additionally, any smoke creates by the burning is wafted away by either druids or sages magic. Trash is handled in the same way. In particular cold months, an emergency firewood stockpile is distributed amongst the public in addition to mages providing magical heating.
