Dragonborn Disease "Draco mutatio"

Transmission & Vectors

Sexually transmitted, although only to carriers. If one is infected with the disease after they are born, they will show no symptoms or developments. However, if the infected person gives birth, the child will develop into a Dragonborn over the course of their lives. The child is always infected and will also pass on the disease to others if they engage in sexual activity.

Sequela

The skin of the infected child will become scaly and hard, developing color and becoming recognizably dragon-like by the time they reach puberty. By adulthood, the infected individual will have a modified skeleton involving the modification of the skull to appear more like that of a dragon's. This will be accompanied by a 'breath': the ability to produce and project a chemical which will have an effect upon contact with the air, such as producing flame, creating ice, or creating acid.

Hosts & Carriers

Dragons and dragonborn are hosts to the disease, while many humans may be carriers. If a Dragon, dragonborn, or human mates with an infected or non-infected individual, the result will be a dragonborn.

Cultural Reception

Those infected with this disease are often discriminated against and shunned by the community, almost as much as lepers are. This likely stems from a lack of knowledge of how the disease is communicated, but can also be attributed to the physical appearance of the individual.
