Bromwich Settlement in Valleris | World Anvil

Bromwich

Do not be fooled by the cheek-cutting winds of the Voguri mountains. Your cheeks will be mightily warm by the time you step foot in the town center of Bromwich, for the town, I am sure, runs off of alcohol, pipes, and sizable houses of limitless pleasures. Many a traveler will have a tongue-in-cheek name for this place. I have heard Bumwich, The Bum, Brewich, Bosomwitches, and the like. What well-traveled traveler would I be if I did not set my Beetlebard to dance to the tune of Bromwich's stories? I daresay, this mountain valley is not for the faint-hearted, faint-walleted, nor faint-toleranced. Come with open eyes and plenty of savings back home. Otherwise, you might lose your life's worth!
- Eldon the Traveler
In the northeastern outskirts of Druna lies a large town called Bromwich. It shares a border with the neighboring country Vogur, a sprawling land mainly inhabited by dwarves, gnomes, and mountain folk. The tall peaks of the nearby mountains often casts a cooling shade over Bromwich, and the snowfall has made it a popular place for winter sports. Year round, however, Bromwich is a haven for all sorts of activities that are not quite as family-friendly.   The colder climate has boosted the town's use (and sales) of alcohol and alcoholic beverages, magical cocktails that do everything from warm the soul (of a Soulcage), to host the properties of an aphrodisiac. The town's head noble is rarely seen, and the laws governing his jurisdiction are loose and vague. Bromwich is the place to go if one would like to escape trivial life in large cities like Death's Lull, indulge in far too much drink, partake in the pleasure houses, gamble with high stakes, and experiment (or be experimented upon) with untamed and unchecked magic.   The population of Bromwich always appears to be double of its actual number, since the residents and the tourists are roughly equal. In the summer, the shade of the mountain provides a safe haven from the burning sun. In the winter, its peaks are perfect for traversing with a set of psionic hover-skis. Tourism here is so commonplace from around Valleris that, strangely enough, the Bromwich accent is considered the most widely understandable accent of Common anywhere!
