Physical Description

Body Features

A perfect humanoid physique turned pale gray from having been drained of all color. Akeroth's angelic wings are pitch-black and bear ebony spikes.

Facial Features

Akeroth's face is always swathed in shadow, with black horns protruding from his forehead and piercing gray eyes alight from within the shadow.

Apparel & Accessories

Akeroth wears black cloth over his lower torso, stapled to his skin, as well as black cloth wrappings around his arms.

Specialized Equipment

Akeroth carries his corrupted blade, Abolisher, a once shining angelic weapon turned dull, rusty black. Spikes protrude from the grip, requiring the wielder to pierce their own flesh in order to use it, a bargain Akeroth happily pays to satisfy his hate.

Personal history

Akeroth is the lord of the first layer of the Nine Hells, Devandor, the Screaming Wastes. Akeroth was once an archangel, named Yavrien, in service to Neridian, serving as his holy blade across the sphere of Valdrin. However, when Neridian betrayed Valdrin, Yavrien was forced to abandon his prior master rather than destroy the sphere he had dedicated himself to protect. Filled with hatred and bitterness towards his old master, Yavrien drifted unknowingly into the Hells, drawn there by his conflicted emotions. It was there that he was offered a bargain, the renegotiation of his heavenly title and position with another deity on behalf of the lord of the Nine Hells, Daebolus. In exchange, all they required was that Yavrien spend a minimum of 364 days observing the activities and powers of an Arch-Devil.
Yavrien agreed, knowing the devils would keep their bargain with him and not fearing their temptations. Yavrien was forced by the contract to observe the cruel and horrific torment committed by the the original ruler of Devandor, Zoroska. For 363 days, Yavrien observed each act of torture and evil committed by Zoroska, as well as the horrific acts committed by the souls he claimed. With each act he observed, his hatred and bitterness grew within him until on the final day before the contract was completed Yavrien could stand it no longer. Striking down Zoroska and his entire entourage of lieutenants in a single day.
This act of hatred and despair transformed Yavrien into a fallen version of what he once was, even tainting his once holy blade. Yavrien took upon himself the name Akeroth in his misery and stole the position as Arch-Fiend of Devandor. Akeroth cared not for the politics of the Hells, but rather for the position that would best allow him to kill and torment those that he hates most. Akeroth hates every creature in the Hells and the Abyss, but the best way for him to strike out against them is from a position of power.
Akeroth is too full of hate to return to the heavens and what he once was, but a glimmer of hope still remains, as he refuses to combat the forces of the heavens and other celestial beings. Perhaps if he were able to obliterate all the beings he hates or his hatred were taken from him, he might one day return to being Yavrien, but for now, he is Akeroth.

Employment

Akeroth is in charge of gathering the souls of those that are full of hate and despair, either as fuel through tormenting them with their hypocrisy, or as soldiers in the blood war against the Abyss. Akeroth cares little for quotas and requirements, focusing mostly on killing Demons and Devils that he is allowed to kill. Akeroth is the foremost general in the blood war, holding a steady line against the Demon hordes.
