Venicos

Found on the towns of Pelfit and Choston, around Crispa Lake, pelfits are a type of houses built by Yudonian natives of indigenous origin, They are small circular houses made of branches and hollow trees like Plafades whose columns keep them hovering over around a meter-deep water bodies. They resemble houses from Venice, from where the name is said to come.   They are considered one of the first recorded usage of wooden logs as structural columns in history.

Coloring

Before industrial-made paint was available, Venicos did have paintjobs over them. Some of the most common colors that have been found to had been used are red and green, the first one made of triturated and water-mixed iron oxide, and the second made by squishing plant leaves and mixing them with water, essentially being dissolved cellulose.

Location

Venicos can be found on the coast towns of Crispa Lake, the native place of Jud'ak Tribes. They are built from the seafloor up, compacting clay or dirt into the poles's holes for stiffness. After it, the logs are cut at roughly 2 meters above the desired floor height. Then the logs are carved to create the floor and horizontal logs are added to create the floor. After it, hay is added on top of small horizontal supports to create the roof.   Sometimes, modifications can be seen to this design, these are the most common ones:
  • Clay is added on top of the built floor to create a more firm surface, some of which are later painted or covered with small pebbles of polished glass. The glass is created by boiling sand and then shaping it while in bright red, with the help of gravity and the hands, only putting a couple leaves in between to avoid burns. If the glass is not completely polished once created, it is smoothed out with volcanic rocks and a lot of time.
  • Extra pilons can be seen put directly under an already built floor to prevent its collapse in case it was built heavier than expected.
  • Most houses are slightly painted with red or dark green, having simple yet pretty designs, but some houses can be seen to be painted with more rare colors, such as terracota, made with "pure" clay, blue, purple or deep red, made with squished fruits, or even blood, made with blood of animals.
  • The tribe's leader(s)'s house(s) always have something that distinguishes it from the rest. It might be a taller roof, a second floor, or a more sophisticated pattern painted on outer walls, but other design features might also be used for this purpose.
