The Tower of Heroes
One of two remaining towers of the once great keep in the northern sector of the ruined city of Avagard.
Purpose / Function
When the keep still stood proud in Avagard's golden age, the tower's ground floor was fitted out as a barracks and its upper stories were embellished as living quarters for the sons' of the Lord's of Avagard.
The tower now houses the player characters who use it as a base of operations.
Alterations
The tower's fourth and highest story is open to the elements and much of the stone masonry has fallen away. The outer walls, which would have been whitewashed back in the day, are now grey and pitted. The interior walls are also in a degenerated state, but to a lesser extant; Faded murals of heroes and mythic scenes cover nearly every flat surface, with lattice-work designs bordering windows, doorways, and alcoves. The wooden areas of the upper floors have long rotted away, and one must traverse planks to cross the open space. Small Rooms carved into the thick exterior wall provide shelter from the open roof. A curved stairway runs along the inside of the exterior wall.
The ground floor has a doorway facing into the castle's courtyard. Surprisingly, the old wooden door is still there.
