Worshippers of a deity can be annointed by that deity's priests to access a portion of the god's power. This can be invoked by prayer, or can manifest as a perpetual blessing.
A god's portfolio affects the kind of magic that can be channelled as well as affecting how it manifests. Spells channelled from a god of war will be direct and brutal in their solutions to problems, those of a god of chaos more unpredictable.
It is worth noting that the Mælstric Sleepers may be worshipped as gods but they cannot channel energy in this way. Their disciples often have other, stranger, powers though.
