The Echoing Pass
The Echoing Pass is the narrow gap in the White-Bone-Teeth Mountains mountains that allows for travel between the Rajjahid Jungle and the Redlands. The pass is of vital importance to trade so controlling the pass is crucial to those who benefit from the exchange. Pity then, that maintaining an outpost here is so difficult. Between the heat, lack of water and dust storms, defenders also must contend with hostile wildlife, to say nothing of bandit attacks or even an invading force. As such, only a small garrison can be maintained here. The empire levies a high toll for merchants using the pass in order to recoup the costs of the outpost but it may very well be worth it. Almost all land trade from eastern Ur'En must travel through here or head hundreds of miles south.
Geography
The pass winds through the mountains, whatever river having carved its path having long since run dry. The pass becomes incredibly narrow at various points, sometimes only the road's width between impassible cliff faces. At its most narrow, sits several platforms protected from Sol's heat. This garrison only houses a couple dozen soldiers, who's unenviable lives are devoted to guarding the pass.
