Unilang
A failed universal language
Unilang is a constructed language made for use across the solar system. Its alphabet contains 177 letters and 20 numbers and is largely based on IPA.
Its name is a combination of 'Universal' and 'Language', yet due to its complexity, it is not normally used, and instead the three most common languages used as universal languages are English, Japanese and Esperanto.
The 248 word dictionary included was compiled by 8 people who spent a month learning unilang, on average they contributed 40 words each. This in itself should show how hard the language is to learn, and this may be the reason why people prefer to use EN, JA and EO instead of UL.

60 pulmonic consonants, 15 non-pulmonic consonants, 36 diatrics, 28 vowels, 30 tones and accents, 9 suprasegmentals, 9 other symbols, 20 letters.
