Ecumenopolis

Located on the sole island in the single-star Flitguar system, Ecumenopolis boasts the title of the most populated island in Asteria. Uniquely, it is the only island in the entire galaxy that is covered entirely by a city - not a shred of undeveloped land remains. Though the exact numbers remain uncertain, it is thought that Ecumenopolis is the most cosmopolitan city in the galaxy, as any sentient species can be found in the city with just a few minute's walk.

Infrastructure

Not a single grain of sand on the beaches of Ecumenopolis remains untouched, as the city is surrounded on all sides by docks. Stellar ships come and go at all hours, providing Ecumenopolis with a steady flow of supplies unable to be procured on the island itself.

Districts

Ecumenopolis is divided into many districts, almost functioning as smaller cities unto themselves. The borders between districts is blurred, as shops and services inevitably overflow their boundaries, but broadly speaking, the island can be divided into five distinct areas:

1st District

1st District is the oldest district in the city, and accordingly contains some of the oldest buildings and streets. Most of the island's government and utilities are located here, such as the aqueturbines and the famous Doppler Building.

Grand Central

Filled with various hums, pulses, and the occasional flash of light from a malfunctioning magitem, Grand Central contains most of the island's industry. This district is how Ecumenopolis got its name as a major innovator in magitech.

Sunhome

While most people live scattered around the city, the Sunhome district is the only district that is primarily residential. It's estimated that 40% of the population of Ecumenopolis lives in Sunhome. Shops are relatively uncommon, and the district as a whole has a quiet aura around it, separate from the hustle and bustle that defines the rest of the city.

Lake District

Though the lake that this district takes its name from has long since been depleted, the Lake District is the island's go-to recreational area. Most any activity can be found here, be it legal or illegal.

The Docks

The busiest district in the city by a considerable margin, The Docks are unmistakably the beating heart of Ecumenopolis. It is here that landmarks such as the Dwarf Star Inn and Tavern, Beaconhome Lighthouse, and the Nautical Traffic Control headquarters can be found.
