The Næming

Era beginning/end

0 BN

After countless battles and wars between the forces of good and evil, The First Guardian uses the Godsword to cleave the planet in two, separating the two factions for eternity, but in return for the Godsword's power the people of the world had to sacrifice their names and history.

By its very nature, little is known of the events of the Næming, the little that is known comes from a combination of remnant memories and archaeological records.   Scholars estimate a time of approximately 11,000 years of wars between what would come to be the The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/nmed-people-article">Næmian and The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/unnmed-people-article">Unnæmed people. Neither side was willing to give in and both seemed equally matched. For every inch of ground gained, another was lost.   Seeking to end the violence, one who would come to be known as the the first Guardian sought an audience with the gods. In it, they pleaded for a way to end the war so that peace could reign on both sides. The gods granted their request, but in return, they and their people would have to sacrifice their names, their history, and all the identity they had. Seeing no price as too steep to end the wars of millennia, the people agreed.   After the deal was made, the gods granted the would be hero some of their direct power, thus creating the first Guardian, and gave them the Godsword. With it, the first guardian rode into battle and plunged the mighty blade into the earth separating the two armies. He wrenched it free and in in one fell swoop, cleaved the planet in two all the way down to the planar level. Thus making sure the two forces would never again clash and wreak destruction across the land.   With peace finally created, the gods returned for their payment, and slowly the people began to loose their histories and identities. Books and paintings were wiped clean, and names failed to pass anyone's lips. Despite this, with no more endless battle, the people prospered, and today those that sacrificed their names for peace are known as the The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/unnmed-people-article">Unnæmed, while those who were driven away came to be called the The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/nmed-people-article">Næmed.
