Bifrost

The Bifrost was a magical bridge-portal that reconnected the worlds of The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/nmed-world-article">Næmed and The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/unnmed-world-article">Unnæmed. It served to not only create a portal between the two realms, but also to draw the planes closer together, and repair the dimensional rift made in The Næming. Experts from the Tower of Magic believe similar a structure was constructed at the same time on The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/nmed-world-article">Næmed in order to solidify the link. This theory is supported by the fact that after activation, a large The Næming" href="/w/unnmed-sageface55/a/nmed-people-article">Næmian army marched through the Bifrost in an attempt to create a base on our world. Fortunately, they were unaware of the UDS, and were mostly wiped out in the Bifrost's destruction. Later study revealed that the Crimson Dragons attempted to redirect the attack from the UDS using the Edge Mist, and would likely have succeeded if the Bifrost itself had not interfered with the mist's properties.   In order to construct the Bifrost, The Crimson Dragons worked for years to devise plans and gather materials. In order to create a structure with such magical power, immense calculations and both natural and artificial activators would be needed. Analysis of the Bifrost after its destruction has led experts to believe it relied mainly on extremely potent blood magic from several sources of great power, many of which seemed to be linked to the red dragons of which The Crimson Dragons were devout worshipers.   To conceal their efforts for so long, the Bifrost was constructed in a remote corner of the world far across the Erafell Ocean, as well as being concealed in several layers of illusion and spacial redirection magic. In addition to this, virtually none of the cult's members knew the location of the Bifrost and transportation was overseen by a select few, each with only a portion of the route, and none knowing which was the end. They were also routinely eradicated and replaced each time the transportation was changed. This planning was so successful that even after forces working in the Alliance of Races uncovered the plans for the Bifrost in 4011, they were unable to find its location until it was activated in 4023.   Several infiltration missions were conducted in the ranks of the Crimson Dragons during the time of the Bifrost's construction, but only one managed to get close enough to be transported to the Bifrost's location. They reported the it to be in a seemingly alpine region, after which they were never heard from again. This ended up harming the Alliance of Races' efforts more than helping however, as the Crimson Dragons became more cautions, and It was later discovered that a side effect of the Bifrost's magic was a large drop in the surrounding atmospheric temperature. In reality, the Bifrost was located in a desert near the equator and towards the edge of the world.

Architecture

The Bifrost consisted of several overlapping rings that joined to make an opening to the Næmian plane. Its surface was adorned with hundreds of thousands of magical systems and activators, with even more strewn throughout its interior routing tunnels.

History

Construction on the Bifrost is estimated to have begun around the year 4000 AN. It was completed in early 4023, and destroyed several days later by the UDS.
