75th Rangers Regiment

"America's premier special light infantry unit and one of the oldest units in the American Armed Forces."- Infopedia entry of the 75th Ranger Regiment
One of the oldest serving units in the American Army, formed in 1775 by Commander Gregory Washington. The regiment is organized in 6 different battalions each highly proficient in all kinds of warfare, these regiments are the first ones to be called on when a tyrant-class Grimm or enemy force is threatening American settlements/interests. Soldiers serving in this regiment are known for their ruthless fighting spirit, compassionate attitude towards civilians, and expert marksmanship. Until 2006 these soldiers served as militia guards and as scouts for different Settlements, it wasn't until 2006 where the Rangers were officially organized and integrated into the United Settlements Army as the 75th Ranger Regiment. After being integrated this unit performed many heroic and amazing acts dismantling radical White Fang cells, and many more things. In all, they were awarded 7 Presidential Unit Citation and 9 Valorous Unit Award. The 75th is tasked with direct action raids in hostile or sensitive environments, airfield seizure, special reconnaissance, personnel recovery, clandestine insertion, and site exploitation. The regiment can deploy one battalion within 18 hours of sortie notification. These soldiers are armed with a variety of weapons but the most common weapons used by them are the NVMR4 assault rifle, SSP9 handgun, HK416 assault rifle, P700 marksman rifle, Hart MG249 SAW, Hammer P2016 handgun, and the ATW4 Launcher.

Structure

The 75th is organized into 4 Battalions, those battalions are the Special Troops Battalion(STB), and the 1-3rd Ranger battalions. The STB is both the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the Regiment and is also an active Reconnaissance, communications, and military intelligence company. The STB is also in charge of accepting proper candidates for Ranger training and unit assignments. The 1-3rd Ranger Battalions are organized into 5 different companies, each company has 4 rifle companies and 1 support company. The 75th also maintains a naval combat group that handles marine operations, they work hand in hand with the United Settlement Coast Guard and the United Settlements Navy.

Culture

Just like the USMC the 75th has a rich and deep history dating back to the formation of the United Settlements. The 75th often sees other branches and other special operation units as rivals and each Ranger tries to outdo each other and other soldiers/marines.   Core values: The 75th like regular Army units value 7 key values which are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. The 75th believes that each person/Faunus has hidden potential that can be unlocked through the practice of these values.   Traditions and customs: The 75th has a wide array of traditions and customs that have been passed down since its creation and intergration. One tradition is the blood wings where after passing the United Settlements Army Airborne School or Air Assault School, a comrade or instructor will place the Parachutist/Airborne Qualification badge on the graduate's chest and is then slammed into the graduate's chest causing the pins to be driven into the flesh. Occasionally if the graduation is affiliated with a particular unit number (ex. Unit 14), then the pin will be pounded deeper and deeper into the muscle the same number of times (14 times in this case). This tradition's origins are unknown but could possibly date back to American-Atlesian Conflict paratrooper training. Another tradition is the Posting of the Colors, the Posting of the Colors is a custom conducted by the color guards of the Settlement Armed Forces. The posting requires that a color guard team lowers the colors (typically the American flag, the settlement flag, the service flag, and the unit flag) into a stand. This is done at formal events, graduations, and public events. It is usually done prior to the playing of the Battle Cry of Freedom or reading of the pledge of allegiance. During the playing or reading the color guard will present arms during and after the reading or playing until told otherwise. The 75th also practices the gifting of either the Model 1850 Army Staff & Field Officers' Sword or the Model 1902 Officers' Sword to newly commissioned officers or retiring members of the unit. The practice is also praticed by the regular army units and other military branches within the United Settlements.

Public Agenda

Protect and defend American Settlements, hunt and destroy Grimm, and patrol their borders

History

Origins: The regiment's origins can be traced all the way back to the early days of the United Settlements when civilian rifle companies organized by Major James Rogers made long-range attacks against Atlesian forces and their allies and were instrumental in capturing Fort Erie from said forces. During the American Homeland War, many American commanders were former Rangers. One, General Stark Griff, commanded the New Mason Militia, which gained fame at the Battles of Breed's Hill and Green Mountain. Stark later coined the phrase "Live free or die", New Mason's settlement motto. American Ranger history predates the Homeland War to Ethan Vermont and his guerrilla fighting group the Green Mountain Family in New Haven. Captain Josiah Benjamin formed Josiah's Rangers, which fought hostile native tribes during the King Mayflower's War. In 1756 Major Robert, a New Mason native, recruited nine Ranger companies to fight in the Atlesian and Natives War. They were known as Robert's Rangers. In 1775, the Continential American Congress later formed eight companies of the best civilian sharpshooters to fight in the Homeland War. In 1777, this force of rugged frontiersmen commanded by Daniel Morgan was known as The Frontier Ranger Corps. Frank Marion, "The Swamp Fox," organized another well known Homeland War Ranger element known as "Marion's Partisans." During the Great War, companies of the United Settlements Rangers were raised from among America's frontier settlers as part of the regular army. Throughout the war, they participated in multiple battles and patrolled Settlement borders on horseback and by boat. The Rangers participated in many homeland skirmishes with the Valean, Vacuoan, and American Native allies. After the Civil War, more than half a century passed without the use of Ranger units in combat in the United Settlements.   The Great War: As the US entered the Great War the 75th Rangers were delegated with the mission to assist the Valean Regular Army in Vacuo against Atlesian loyal forces and were also delegated to protecting Settlement coasts against Atlesian submarines. The 75th's first battle was the Battle of the Gallus Desert in the Vacuoan desert on the border between the Arizonac-Vacuo border and was one of the military units that participated in the final battle with the Kingdoms of Vale and Vacuo.   Cold War period: During the second half of the Cold War period the 75th Rangers were officially organized as the 75th Ranger Regiment in the United Settlements Army and continued to guard the borders of America. During the Cold War, the Rangers were called upon to help and advise Asvakan militia leaders against the invading Soyuz army. In the year 2000 the 75th Ranger's Naval Warfare group was activated and later that year the Regimental Reconnaissance Company underwent reconstruction to improve their leadership.   Contemporary time: The 75th was one of the many American units involved in the Babylonian war and had multiple battalions deployed to the region to take part in the fighting. Their first engagement was in the city of Isin where they looked for biochemical weapons allegedly being stored somewhere in the city. On April 1, 2055, Ranger elements containing 290 men from the 1/75th and the 2/75th took part in the rescue of PFC Dawn Lynn; also during that time Delta Group and 3/75th captured the Isin Dam and held onto it for a further 5 days. Following the invasion, all Ranger battalions were deployed to Babylonia to carry out operations in northern Babylonia and were based out of the cities of Mepsila and Tigris, and were supported by a small Delta Group operators. In November 2056, a new secret directive sanctioned by President Gerald had allowed US forces in Babylonia to kill or capture Babylonian nationals if they were caught engaging Coalition forces due to the Hizbalnabi success in southwest Babylonia and Iranzamin's defiance on its nuclear program; the new mission was known by its acronym CII (Counter Iranzaminian Influence). The 75th Rangers and other military units continued to be involved in the Babylonian War until its end in 2058. Ever since 2055, the 75th has been involved in multiple operations against remnant Babylonian and terrorist forces. After the Remnant Trade Center attack the size of the 75th grew rapidly from only 1189 men to over 3600+. In Asvakanstan the 75th has been involved in more than 900 missions in one deployment, the regiment has captured over 2700 enemy combats with the 1st Ranger Battalion taking most of the credit (captured 1700, 386 of which were HVTs and killed more than 400). By mid 2065 each Ranger Battalion had completed its 20th deployment in support of Asvakanstan and Bablyonian operations. In 2067 Settlement Army Times reported that the first female officer completed RASP, making the regiment the first special operations unit to have a female soldiers graduate its selection course. After the Fall of Beacon 768 men the 1st and 3rd Ranger Battalions were deployed to Vale to assist reconstruction efforts and to assist in Grimm extermination.
