What is Unicorta?

Unicorns are the least of your worries.

Dark, but Wonderous

The world of Unicorta is wrought with many dangers and wonders, ripe for discovery and conquering. In every corner of this expansive universe lies an adventure for someone. Included within Unicorta include almost all races from many of 5e's own books as well as races from expansions with their own twist. Whether you're a normal human or a courageous Dragonborne, Unicorta has a place for you.   Although the theme of Unicorta is generally fantastical, there is always a darker side to every world. For every joyous farmer, there is a suffering slave. For every hero, there is a cruel villain. For every open mind, there is an unfavorable one. Those who wish to venture into this world should be aware that the going-ons of Unicorta are not always those you read in fairytales. This is not something you may always expect, but this leaves much room for adventures to explore. But always be aware - limits rarely exist in this world.

Where are we?

Lost
In the world of Unicorta there exist three main territories of land, each with their own expansive histories and legends. Kyrased lies at the center, a giant continent with four main factions. The Lunar Isles swim just South West of Kyrased, through the Dragon Sea. And finally, the hidden continent of Yuthilia, obscured by magics some believed not to be possible - resting towards the South East. Each of these locations offer different experiences, monsters to fight and quests to complete.

Kyrased - The Main Land

Recognized as the center of Unicorta, this continent is home to many of the primary races of the world. In the north you may humble yourself in the open fields of Caledor, or take shelter within the Kingdom's four fantastical cities: Gryphon's Peak, Crandor, Ranotoll or Hammerfell. Fret not for who you are, races of all kinds are generally welcome within their great city walls.   Or, if you're a forest dweller, travel within the western forests of Synesthal where the Elves and Gnomes take shelter. Trees that stand as tall as great towers. Monsters that are almost invisible to the naked eye. These are the traits that make the Living Forest both a marvel and a dangerous place to explore.   If forests aren't to your fancy, maybe try the other side of the spectrum. The deserts and canyons of Kentama and Kantorra are wrought with more dangers than wonders, as many travellers have told. Dinosaurs that could be the size of buildings, sand dwelling nightmares that could swallow you whole, and not to mention the xenophobic Dragonborne that live amongst their tribes. What's not to love? Only true survivalists may find their home here.   Alternatively speaking, one may find themselves in the southern mountains of Asphodel, a cold wasteland inhabited by even colder people. Plagued with slavery and even more treacherous slavers, Asphodel is only meant for those whom wish to take advantage of the lives of others. This is an unforgiving territory that cultivates only the most ruthless kinds of people. Blood that has been spilled in these lands could make even vampires writhe in disgust.   But none of the mountains can compare to the grandeur majesty of Mount Sagesh - home to the mighty Dwarves and the powerful Orcs. With much of its beauty hidden deep below, travelers often tell tales of the wonders that lie in the Deep Roads. From the legend of the Earth Dragon to its glorious treasure hoard, not even the depths of Unicorta can escape wonderous fables and tales! Kyrased is a land that offers all kinds of imaginative opportunities for adventures and fun - don't squander it!

Lunar Isles

The Lunar Isles are home to the famed Dragon Republic - an imperial state that houses a monarchy but is represented by chancellors. Here both Dragonborne of a different breed and humans live together in harmony. While skills with sword and shield are certainly treasured in Kyrased, the prowess of Martial Arts are found to be much more respected due to their style and finesse.
Among other things, the Lunar Isles are wrought with amphibious opportunities. Fables of the mighty Kraken haunt the sailors of the isles, while pirates that sail the open seas wish to avoid the wrath of the mighty Leviathan. If fear does not creep upon you, maybe hunting these monstrosities provide an opportunity for great fame and fortune. Hopefully the protection of the Golden Dragon is with you during those dangerous feats. Whether it be exploring the islands or faring the open seas, the Lunar Isles offers no shortage of adventure.

Yuthilia - The Land of Beasts

Hidden by a blanket of magic fog, the beast lands of Yuthilia are home to an entirely different breed of people - literally. The creatures that inhabit these lands are not man, per se, but beasts! Felinoids, Caninoids, Pachyoids and many other types of "-oids" dominate the territories of Yuthilia. The continent itself is split into four main territories, each one dominated by its own bestiary.   In the northern regions, dense with jungle and flora, the Sabrasa reign supreme. You may find yourself at odds with the Tigris Lords, constantly feuding amongst each other over territorial disputes. Or you may be tricked by the Lynx Clan, losing every coin in your pocket while being charmed by a sleek and slender cat. From lions to leopards, these vicious felines hold nothing back when it comes to showing their ferocity.   Travel along the central spine of Yuthilia and you will find yourself in Canine territory. Here you will find that loyalty is tantamount above all else. Three packs rule here - the Moon Pack, the Shadow Pack and the Laughing Pack. Divided more so by race than all the other inhabitants of Yuthilia, these three clans compete with each other over one right - the right to rule the Pack. Whether it be honorable combat or dishonorable subterfuge, these dogs of war will stop at nothing to prove they are the most superior beasts.
Pack of Adventurers
Hit the southernmost oases of the continent and you will enter the peace lands - a home to the Loxodon and Rhinodons, these mellow but powerful creatures pride themselves in their calm and wise natures. Often sought out to assist in the feuding tendencies of the other beasts, the Lox and Rhino are towering behemoths whose strength and ability match their near unending patience. Do not be fooled however, for these beasts can be just as vicious and unforgiving as their furrier counterparts.

Finally, the badlands. Dragonmen. Crocs. Lizardmen. Naga. Almost any form of scaled beast can be found in this ruthless territory. A mixture of both swamp and jungle, this land is riddled by all sorts of deadly reptiles. In many cases, these beasts are excellent killers that specialize in the art of pain and torture - an art perfected by practicing amongst themselves. While seemingly discombobulated, a fabled kingdom lies hidden deep within its thick jungles.   Truly, there is no such thing as bland in this land. To many this might even be considered a "backwards" land, but in truth, it is as civil and twisted as any other land. From cunning cats to ravenous reptiles, Yuthilia opens many doors of opportunity for those who wish expand their horizons in a more... beastly fashion.

The Past

Long ago, long before any of the modern man or beast ever came into power, there existed a fantastical civilization. A race of people so magical, so amazing that no one could comprehend what they are capable of. These people are known as The Ancients. With evidence of their existence found in Kyrased, the Isles and Yuthilia, it is a wonder as to how large this Empire spanned. Thought to be capable of magic that mages of today could only dream of, these people reached stages of advancement that no mortal should be capable of. Today, though, they are but a reminder that no civilization stands against the tenacity of time. With only relics and ruins to account for its existence, the Ancients have become nothing but dust... However, of their many relics, a special few stand above all else.

The Strength of a Dragon

Not much is known about how they are crafted nor how they are capable of holding such power, but what is known is that they exist. "What?", you ask? Well, it is Dragon Weapons to be exact. These are magic weapons of grand power that are capable of turning entire tides of war. Crafted from a metal that is considered to have been exhausted thousands of years ago, the secrets of these items are of paramount interest to all nations of the world. Of the few that have been discovered, only one has been found to be operable at minimal levels - even then it demonstrated destructive power. With this it is understandable as to why every nation, guild and private institution is competing in a race to discover the next Dragon Weapon. So far, another one has not been found - but maybe that will change in the days to come?

The Cataclysm

The end of the civilization dubbed the Ancients suffered an end that seems to be inexplicable by modern day scholars and historians. Evidence suggests that they were felled by a natural disaster - one that not even their magic could stop. But this is met by skeptics whom put faith in their magic capability. Others believe that a power not even they could contest wiped them off the face of Unicorta - but naysayers believe that they stood at the peak of evolution. A mass flood. An invasion. A deadly plague. A magical void. A tear in reality. It's anyone guess what happened to the Ancients. But one question scratches at all those whom study the Ancients - will this also happen to us? Some believe it's possible, others think its absolute rubbish. But those of the Lunar Isles say that it has much to do with their Prophecy of Destruction. Ultimately, no one knows what is to come.
