Grapple

Grapple: Grapple is a basic combat maneuver that allows a character to restrain a target. The character may attempt a grapple maneuver as a standard action. If they successfully beat the CMD of the target, they apply the grappled condition to the target and themselves, unless they have a talent or ability that lets them not become grappled when grappling with a target. In addition to having the grappled condition, two grappling targets may not move away from each other, however the character that initiated the grapple may in future rounds attempt to reposition the target. The target may attempt to break out of the grapple on their turn as a basic action with a strength check, or escape artist check with a DC equal to the grappler's CMD. On the grappler's turn, after they have initiated grappling, if they are still grappling with the target they may roll another grapple check with advantage to maintain the grapple by spending two basic actions. The target remains grappled as long as the character continues succeeding to maintain the grapple, or choose to let them go. If the grappler has a natural attack, or is grappling the target with a close weapon, they may automatically deal damage to the target with that weapon after successfully maintaining the grapple. If the target attempts to cast a spell, or spell-like abilities while grappled, they must succeed on a concentration check, DC equal to the grappler's CMD+skill rank bonus in grapple, to be able to do so. After succeeding in maintaining a grapple check, the character may also immediately attempt to pin the target. A character may not attempt to grapple a creature that is two or more size categories larger than them.   Pin: A character may attempt to pin a target that they have grappled immediately after they succeeded to maintain a grapple on their turn by making a grapple check against the grappled target. The target is treated as having a +5 to CMD against being pinned. If they succeed on the check to pin the target they are restrained even further, commonly pinned to the ground or some other object and gain the pinned condition as long as the grappler maintains the pin. They then may attempt to maintain the pinned condition each turn the same way they would maintain a grapple, and if they have a rope or other such restraining object in their hand when they maintain the pin, they may immediately attempt to tie up the target.   Reposition: A character may attempt to reposition a grappled target as a free action upon succesfully maintaining a grapple. They may move the target one square per 5 they beat the CMD of the target. The target is only able to be moved to squares within the character's natural reach and only if they are in control of the grapple at the time. Characters may attempt to reposition allies this way but are not required to already be maintaining a grapple. The target ally is treated as having a CMD of 5 for the purposes of the DC to reposition and how far they can be moved within the character's natural reach when they make their grapple check. A character may also move while performing the reposition dragging the target with them, however they can still only move the target a number of squares based on their grapple check.   Assisting a Grappler: A grappler may be assisted at any point during their grappling or maintaining attempts using the aid another rules as normal, however a secondary character may not attempt to pin or tie up a target being grappled or pinned by a different creatures unless they have an ability or talent that lets them do so. At most, an assistant may take out a restraining device and spend their action to hand it to the grappler so they have it available on their turn when attempting to tie up the target.   Counter Grapple: A grappled target may attempt to reverse the grapple by making their own grapple check, however this becomes an opposed roll and they must beat the grapple check that initially grappled them or the most recent grapple check to maintain. If the character succeeds on this counter grapple check, they immediately become the grappler and may maintain the grapple as per normal.
