Damage Types
The various damage types available in the system are broken up into four tiers depending on how common they are. Tier 1 is readily available, while Tier 4 is restricted to the highest levels of magic or powerful planar creatures. Each damage type includes some common sources of where they can be found.
Tier 1
Physical
Damage Types: Bludgeoning, Piercing, Slashing
Physical damage sources typically include weapons and lower tier magic. Earth
Damage Types: Acid
Earth damage sources typically include magic, planar creatures, and natural occurring sources of acid. Air
Damage Types: Electricity
Air damage sources typically include magic, planar creatures, and natural occurring sources of electricity. Fire
Damage Types: Fire
Fire damage sources typically include magic, planar creatures, and natural occurring sources of fire. Water
Damage Types: Cold
Water damage sources typically include magic, planar creatures, and natural occurring sources of cold. Unlife
Damage Types: Negative Energy
Negative Energy damage sources typically include magic, planar creatures, and natural occurring sources of negative energy. Life
Damage Types: Positive Energy
Life damage sources typically include magic, planar creatures, and natural occurring sources of positive energy. Tier 2
Darkness
Damage Types: Gloom
Darkness damage sources typically include middle tier or higher magic and planar creatures affected by gloom energy. Light
Damage Types: Radiant
Light damage sources typically include middle tier or higher magic and planar creatures affected by radiant energy. Poison
Damage Types: Poison
Poison damage sources typically include middle tier or higher magic, toxic plants, and creatures with natural venoms. Sound
Damage Types: Sonic
Sound damage sources typically include middle tier or higher magic and creatures affected by sonic energy. Tier 3
Magical Will
Damage Types: Force
Magical Will damage sources typically include high tier magic and creatures made of pure magical energy. Psionic
Damage Types: Psychic
Psionic damage sources typically include magic and creatures with strong mental powers. Death
Damage Types: Necrotic
Death damage sources typically include magic and undead creatures. Crushing
Damage Types: Crushing
Crushing damage sources typically include falling damage and sources of high pressure. Primary Alignments
Damage Types: Aligned
Aligned damage sources typically include creatures of a strong alignment and planar creatures from an aligned plane. Tier 4
The Pantheon
Damage Types: Holy
Holy damage sources typically include high-level divine magic and creatures touched by the primary pantheon. Pagan Deities
Damage Types: Unholy
Unholy damage sources typically include high-level divine magic and creatures touched by pagan deities or other similar creatures.
Nature
Damage Types: Primal
Primal damage sources typically include high-level magic, the pure power of nature, and some planes such as ‘Avalon’. The Void
Damage Types: Void
Void damage sources typically include high-level magic, the Void itself, and the horrors that come from the Void. The Astral Sea
Damage Types: Astral
Astral damage sources typically include high-level magic, the Astral Sea, and creatures from the Astral Sea. ‘Shadefall’
Damage Types: Shade
Shade damage sources typically include high-level magic, the plane of ‘Shadefall’, and creatures infected with or wielding Shade power from Shadefall.
