Circumstance

Circumstance bonuses refer to bonuses granted when attempting a action while in a beneficial situation. For example using a crowbar when attempting to open a wooden crate gives a circumstance bonus to that check. Many of these bonuses are decided by the DM during game, and may also be penalties such as making a perception check while trying to see through fog.
