Maex, a remarkable changeling prisoner, enters the narrative as a beacon of hope in the darkest depths of Newheart's cave. Encountered by Tharmur, one of the party members, she exudes an air of mystery and resilience. Unbeknownst to Tharmur, Maex possesses knowledge of Aegnor, and upon learning of his plight, she urges Tharmur and Leilatha to embark on a daring mission to save him.   Intriguingly, Maex represents the collective spirit of the prisoners, having endured the cruel modifications and experiments inflicted by Newheart. Stripped of her eyesight, she navigates the world with a heightened sense of perception, relying on her intuition and empathy to forge connections. Maex's lack of memories about the outside world leaves her wide-eyed and curious, thirsting for knowledge and experiences.   Maex's impact goes beyond her role as a fellow prisoner. She becomes a catalyst for transformation, not only in Aegnor's life but also in Tharmur's. Through her unwavering optimism and unwavering spirit, she brings light to the cave's darkness, inspiring those around her to persevere and reclaim their lost humanity.   With her radiant presence and indomitable spirit, Maex stands as a symbol of hope, reminding everyone that even in the depths of despair, a flicker of light can ignite the flame of resilience and ignite the path toward liberation.

Discovering her true name, Maex, she embraces the name Lunara given to her by Aegnor, seeing it as a connection to him and a reminder of the kindness and care he showed her.   While still lacking memories of her past, Maex begins to grasp the concept of being a changeling, recognizing Tharmur as one of her kind.
